What are the best glasses to use around the pool and the braai?
By Kirsty Cook, Govino SA · Updated · 2 min read
Short answer: Around a pool or braai, use shatterproof Tritan™ glasses. Broken glass on paving or in the water means cut feet and, often, draining the pool. Govino makes four shapes for every drink at a South African braai: Govino Shatterproof Wine for wine, Govino Shatterproof Can for beer and cider, Govino Shatterproof Flute for bubbles and Govino Shatterproof Rocks for whisky and G&Ts.
Which Govino for which drink?
| Drink | Govino glass | Size |
|---|---|---|
| Wine, rosé | Shatterproof Wine | about 470 ml |
| Beer, cider, G&T, iced coffee | Shatterproof Can | about 470 ml |
| MCC, champagne, prosecco | Shatterproof Flute | about 240 ml |
| Whisky, brandy, cocktails on ice | Shatterproof Rocks | about 370 ml |
What's the best set for a braai?
The Braai Pack pairs 6 Wine and 6 Can glasses, which covers most braais. The Household Bundle gives you 4 of every shape (16 glasses). For beer-heavy crowds there's the Game Day Pack (12 Can).
Why not just use plastic party cups?
They go flat in the sun, crack, blow away and end up in the garden. Govinos look like proper glassware on the table and go straight in the dishwasher afterwards.
Quick answers

Shatterproof glasses made from Tritan, such as Govino, don't shatter if dropped on paving or in the water.
What is the best braai drinkware?
Govino's Braai Pack (6 Wine + 6 Can) or Household Bundle (4 of each shape), all shatterproof Tritan and dishwasher safe.
