Govino vs other plastic and shatterproof wine glasses
By Kirsty Cook, Govino SA · Updated · 2 min read
Short answer: Most "plastic wine glasses" sold in South Africa are acrylic, polystyrene or PET. Govino is different on five counts: Eastman Tritan™ (glass-clear, dishwasher safe, BPA- and BPS-free), a sommelier-designed bowl, the signature thumb notch, local stock with nationwide delivery, and logo branding from 42 glasses for venues and events.
How to compare plastic wine glasses
Before brand, compare these five things:
- Material: Tritan, acrylic, polycarbonate, polystyrene, PET or silicone? It decides clarity, safety and lifespan. See the materials compared.
- Shape: a bowl that narrows, or a straight cup?
- Rim: thin and polished, or thick and rolled?
- Dishwasher rating: top-rack safe, or hand-wash only?
- Support: can you get more of the same glass next season, in bulk, with your logo?
